For those who are new to airsoft these guns shoot 6mm round pellets commonly known as “BBs.”
Airsoft guns can be categorized into 3 types. They are:
The Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) is among the most popular. One of the main attractions to the sport of Airsoft is the authenticity of the AEG. In today's market you can find most any model of gun fully licensed by the original arms supplier both foreign and domestic, that looks, weighs and feels like the real gun! Gun prices range on an average of about $150 - $300 but can go even higher. AEGs are powered by a battery. It operates the motors that run the three gears inside the gun. These gears, in turn, compress and release the piston creating a blast of air that propels the BB pellets out of the gun barrel. The system allows the gun to function efficiently in semi-auto and fully automatic mode producing a rate of fire that can vary from 5 BB's per second to more than 30+ BB's per second in the more expensive rifles. For those who are advanced in the field, these are the guns of choice because even though pricey, they are worth it.
The next most popular gun is the gas-powered gun. There are several types of gas-powered guns. The most popular one is the Gas-Blowback, also know as GBBs. They operate using CO2 to compress the air used to propel the BBs out of the barrel. The same gas is used to cycle back the slide, creating a recoil by cycling the slide back and forth. The gas is either stored in the magazine or on-board. Similar to AEGs, the Gas-Blowbacks allow realistic semi-automatic firing. The gun allows the ease of magazine reload and making it very appealing to its users.
Then there is the game itself. It can be played in a variety of different ways from backyard airsoft to large organized events. We at the Battalion like to think we do what we do as well as anyone and invite you to come join us to see for yourself what the buzz is all about. Because of the limitations of airsoft guns, play between two shooters can only take place an confined area. Unlike a real rifle, an airsoft gun has a very limited range (usually less than 300 feet for any accuracy at all). Battalion Airsoft Arena provides a very large Arena where the feel of open field play or CQB can be experienced in a very structured environment where safety is our #1 priority.
Automatic Electric Guns can cause a variety of minor injuries so what to wear is important. Let's start with the most important item, the Full Face Mask. Whether we provide the mask or you bring in your own you can't play without one. Protective clothing is also recommended. We tell customers to dress in long sleeve t-shirts, sweatshirts or hoodies and to wear long pants. We have players wear gym attire all the time so it depends on the individuals level of tolerance but for younger players especially we recommend to dress appropriately.
You don't have to. But protective goggles are still needed.
